Marl Limestone

Limestone is a widespread rock in nature and sometimes contains a bit of clay. The presence of this material makes the rock more susceptible to erosion, creating countless thin flakes. The surface of the outcrops resembles the scales of certain animals.
Marly sediments are widespread worldwide, found in many ancient marine and lake environments throughout geological history.
