Calcareous micaschist

Earth's history is recorded in its rocks. In this case, we can only imagine the immense forces at play during the formation of a mountain range like the Alps. Originally horizontal and parallel layers now appear completely folded and compressed against each other.
Mica schist forms at great depths and high pressures. It contains mica, which gives it a shiny appearance and facilitates the formation of spectacular folds like those seen in the Alps.
