Carbonate breccia

A rock can also be made up of fragments of other rocks. Here, angular pieces of gray limestone with thin calcite veins are embedded in a white matrix that cemented everything together. Even in geology, “Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed.”
Carbonate rocks, after clastic ones, are the most widespread type of sedimentary rock. They are essentially monomineralic and their origin is closely linked to the direct or indirect action of the biosphere.
