Hornblende gneiss

Numerous dark hornblende prisms stand out from the lighter background matrix of the rock. These minerals formed when the rock was subjected to high temperatures and pressures, causing the constituent chemical elements to reorganize into a new structure suited to those extreme conditions.
The result of this metamorphic process is a solid, durable rock characterized by black hornblende prisms that contrast with the light background. The high pressure and temperature led to a complete rearrangement of minerals, giving gneiss its distinctive and resilient structure typical of extreme geological environments.
