Numerous fractures run through this limestone, intensifying the erosive action of surface water. In several places, rounded structures are visible — over time, these may evolve into actual caves.
As water seeps through fractures, it dissolves the calcium carbonate, creating increasingly wide cavities. This phenomenon is especially common in the Sennes and Braies regions, where the ongoing erosion enriches the karst landscape with underground formations.
